Here at Element Church, as a part of our 2020 vision as a staff, I am challenging us to memorize one verse of Scripture together each month. Each of the verses we memorize will be linked to one of our core values or a part of our vision statement. I would love for you to join us in this memory challenge.
In Psalm 119, King David says that by hiding God’s Word in our hearts, it can give us power over sin and temptation. We see this example in the life of Jesus, as well. Each time Jesus was tempted by satan, He responded with the Word of God. If Jesus used the Word of God, from memory, to combat sin and temptation, don’t you think we should too?
The first verse we have committed ourselves to memorize was:
Galatians 1:10 10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.
This month, we are going to memorize Romans 12:4-5 4 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, 5 so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.
This ties perfectly with our core value of, “Better Together — We become the most like Christ when we are connected together through Christ.”
If you’re looking for some helpful apps to assist you in your memorization, try “The Bible Memory App” or “Fighter Verse.” I use The Bible Memory App, and it has become an incredibly helpful tool for memorizing Scripture.
Will you join us on this memory challenge? Imagine the impact this could have on our church if we all put God’s Word in our hearts together! Let’s do this!
