Now, more than ever, is a great time to be putting Scripture to memory. Each month here at Element Church, as a part of our 2020 vision as a staff, I am challenging us to memorize one verse or passage of Scripture together.
Each of the verses we memorize will be linked to one of our core values or a part of our vision statement. I would love for you to join us in this memory challenge.
Here are the first three passages we have committed to memory:
Galatians 1:10 Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. (Obedience is our success)
Romans 12:4-5 Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other. (Better Together)
Luke 5:31-32 Jesus answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” (A place to call “Home”)
This month, we will be memorizing Luke 15:7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!
This goes with our core value of “If only for the one: We do all we can to reach as many as we can, celebrating every ‘one’!”
If you’re looking for some helpful apps to assist you in your memorization, try “The Bible Memory App” or “Fighter Verse.” I use The Bible Memory App, and it has become an incredibly helpful tool for memorizing Scripture.
Will you join us on this memory challenge? It’s not too late to start. Imagine the impact this could have on our church if we all put God’s Word in our hearts together! Let’s do this!
