On Sunday at Element Church, we had our annual “You Choose Sunday.” On these days we let the people pick the worship songs and also select the sermon content by submitting questions that I do my best to answer. We’re gonna have to start doing two weeks of You Choose Sunday because there were way more questions than I possibly had the time to get to, but I love weeks like this. This lets me hear what is stirring in your hearts and answer questions that are on your mind and I love doing that.
One of the questions that came in that I was more than happy to answer was, “Are homosexuals and transgenders welcome at our church? Jesus loves all, so do we?” I’m not sure there is a more relevant question to answer in the church today than this one. This question needs addressed and will continue to be addressed as people in the LGBT community and lifestyle come to our churches and want to know where they fit in.
In February of 2015, I preached an entire sermon on “What does the Bible say about homosexuality and how should our church respond?” You can watch that sermon in week 3 of a sermon series called “50 Shades of Grey” HERE. In the clip below, I did my best in the brief time I had to answer the question “Are they welcome here and do we love them?” You can watch full sermons HERE.
