Israel Trip 2022

The official registration for an 11 day trip to Israel I am leading from March 28th through April 7th of 2022 is OPEN. (March 28th is the start of Spring Break for Cheyenne, WY families)

YOU CAN REGISTER HERE and it is open to anyone and everyone.  This is not just an “Element Church” trip, although I’d love to go with as many of my Element family as I can.  I’ll be doing some teaching and study at some of my favorite sights along the way.

On this trip, we’re planning on having live worship at specific sites as well. For instance, at the empty tomb, we will be able to celebrate communion together while also spending some time in worship.

One of the biggest faith-building experiences of my life has been my trips to the Holy Land in the summer of 2017 and 2019.  As a pastor, nothing has been more invigorating to my preaching than this trip.  The Bible exploded to life in a whole new way in my heart and mind as I was able to stand at the shore of the Sea of Galilee, sail across it on a boat, be baptized in the Jordan River, walk the streets of Jerusalem and look into the empty tomb (pictured above).  Words cannot express how amazing it was to experience Israel first hand and now I’m inviting you to go back with me.

Through Faith Based Expeditions (FBE), we will travel the Holy Land, getting 8 full days of sightseeing and Bible study.  We will encounter the power and presence of Jesus as we travel His homeland recalling His ministry, and His miracles, in Galilee and in Jerusalem.  We will experience the lives and the land of those who have built the powerful foundation of faith that we stand upon today.  (Full itinerary HERE or below)

The cost of the trip is $3,175 per person (plus airfare).  FBE will work hand in hand with each registrant to make sure they get the right flights and times for their trip.  Anyone traveling from the same airport can work together to select certain flights as well.  For those going from Element, we will work to travel together.  In doing the trip this way people are able to save money by using airline miles or credit card points for their flight.

The initial deposit is $400 per person, with the balance due 100 days prior to departure.  You can make payments at anytime prior to the balance being due. ($300 of the deposit is non-refundable. See full refund policy below)

The cost of the trip is also based on 20 registrations and a minimum of 10 registered individuals are required for the trip.  If less than 20 people sign up, there will be an extra charge of typically $50 – $150 per person.  Also, if for some reason the trip has to be canceled there is a $150 penalty per person for trips under 10 registrations.  $500 per person for trips over 10 registrations. (While we hope this would never happen, I want to make sure you are aware of that potential. Travel insurance is recommended to help cover cancellation expenses)

FBE will also work hand in hand with all registrants throughout the process to make sure that each person has all the information they need for the trip. FBE has 43 scheduled trips for 2021 in case you’re wondering whether tours and trips to Israel are taking place. We’re moving forward in full expectation of this trip taking place.

DAY 5: FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 2022 – CAESAREA PHILIPPI / TEL DAN / MT. OF BEATITUDES / PETER’S PRIMACY

After breakfast, we travel north into the Golan Heights to visit Caesarea Philippi – where Jesus asked His disciples “who do men say that I am?” (Mark 8: 27-30, Matt. 16:13).  Continuing north, we enjoy a short hike through the beautiful nature reserve of Tel Dan where the remnants of the Bronze-Canaanite Era can be found. This area later became the northernmost city of the Kingdom of Israel belonging to the Tribe of Dan (1st Kings 12:28-29). We will see a Canaanite-era gate as well as an impressive ritual site, most likely built by King Jeroboam, as well as the Israelite Gate from the time of the Judges.  We make  a stop at Tabgha, the traditional site of the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes followed by a short walk to visit Peter’s Primacy – located on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and best known for where Christ appeared to His disciples after His resurrection and where He commands Peter to “feed and tend” His flock. We enjoy a time of teaching and prayer at this lovely site.  We ascend to the Mt. of Beatitudes where we enjoy the beautiful view of the Sea of Galilee as we reflect on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. We continue through the Judean desert toBethany Beyond the Jordan, believed to be the location where John the Baptist baptized Jesus.  Here we enjoy a time of teaching.  Before ascending to the holy city of Jerusalem, we stop to view the Valley of the Shadow of Death- another name for the road between Jerusalem and Jericho- the ancient road used by David, Jesus, and thousands of Jews heading to festivals in Jerusalem.  Soon after, we enter Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.

Our pilgrimage will proceed down the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane with its ancient olive grove, and the Church of All Nations, where tradition holds that Jesus prayed on the night of His betrayal (Matt. 26:36, John 18:1). We will visit the private area of the Garden of Gethsemane for a time of worship and meditation. Entering the Old City of Jerusalem through the Zion Gate we walk along the ancient road making stops at The  Pools of Bethesda, where Jesus healed a paralytic (John 5:1-15), the Pavement, where Jesus stood while being tried by Pilate, Ecce Homo Arch “behold the man”, and the ancient Cardo.  We continue through the old city to the most holy site of the Jewish people, the Western (Wailing) Wall of Herod’s Temple. Beyond the wall lies the 35-acre Temple area purchased by King David (2 Samuel. 24:18-25). On this site now stands the Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El-Aksa Mosque. After visiting the Western Wall, we will enter the Western Wall Tunnel to walk along the entire length of the Western Wall.  We continue to the outside of the temple wall to stand on the Southern Steps- the very steps where Jesus would have taught!  Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem.

Ascending Masada by cable car, we will be able to survey the ruins of the fortifications, waterworks, synagogue, temples and palaces. Continuing along the Dead Sea, we will enjoy a stop at the desert oasis of Ein Gedi.  After a time of teaching, enjoy hiking to the waterfalls and seeing the caves as we imagine David hiding here from King Saul (1 Sam 24: 1-7). Our next stop before leaving the Dead Sea area will be to enjoy a “float” in the healing waters of the Dead Sea.
