Why Should I Pray For Wyoming?

Did you know that according to the latest census data, out of the 563,000 people who call Wyoming their home, 340,000 of them claim “None” as their religion.  340,000 people have no religious affiliation or relationship at all.  If you include people who are a part of a religion that has nothing to do with the Jesus of the Bible, there are 405,552 people disconnected from the ministry of Christ.  That should move the hearts of God’s people to, at the very least, pray for Wyoming.

If you don’t know, we have a great prayer tool out there called PrayForWyoming.com.  Every day of the month from the 1st to the 23rd we offer a prayer guide for a corresponding county in Wyoming.  There are 23 counties, so each of those days there is a new prayer for a new county.  For instance, today is April 3rd and we will have a prayer on the blog for Sheridan County which is county #3.  Each month there is a different focus or theme and each day there is a new thing to pray for.

Here at Element Church, we are passionate about impacting our state.  Our vision is to be a life-giving movement of people having such an impact that if we were gone our communities would miss us.  We want to see the reputation of God’s Church elevated, expanded and increased.  We want to see God reach more and more people for Him.  Part of that impact and part of that vision is praying over our state in a disciplined and diligent way.

1 Peter 4:7 says The end of the world is coming soon.  Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers.

Is there a sense of urgency in our prayers?  Not just urgent about our own needs and desires but urgent for the Gospel to penetrate people’s lives?  Are we disciplined in our prayers?  Not just saying we pray “continually” but actually praying “consistently”?

We don’t know when the end will come and that should motivate us to pray with urgency and discipline.  O Sovereighn Lord, would You help us?  Would You move us? Would You save us?  Lord come quickly!
