On Sunday October 7th, 2007, Element Church officially launched her full public ministry here in Cheyenne. It all started on a promise from God found in Isaiah 43:18-19, “But forget all that! It is nothing compared to what I am going to do, for I am about to do a brand new thing.” You can watch part of our story in the video below as I re-told it on Sunday!
The last 8 years have been a wild ride with many new things springing forth, as well as many ups and downs, but through it all, God has remained faithful. Each year when this day rolls around I get very sentimental. I am forever grateful to specific people who helped make Element Church a reality. There are too many to name but I have to name a few.
First, my wife! Sabrina, from the moment God confirmed in my heart that He was calling us to Cheyenne your first words were “I’m in!” and you’ve been in this entire ride. I don’t know how I could have done all this without you standing with me. You’ve kept me grounded and reminded me on more than one occasion that we are committed to this, “Because we’re called.” Thank you for standing with me and loving me. I love you more than I can say or show!
Pastor Dan Morgan, who was my pastor when I felt called to plant Element, was 100% supportive from the moment I sat down with him to tell him God was calling us on. I couldn’t ask for a better senior pastor to learn under during my early years of ministry. I wouldn’t be the man or pastor I am today without his leadership and guidance.
There were three other couples who uprooted their families and moved to Cheyenne to be a part of our staff and launch team that helped make Element what it is today. While none of these families are still ministering through Element, all three of them are still serving God and His Kingdom in different places. God has put them where they can do HIM the most good. Grant and Terri Clark, Adam and Amber Cruz and Keenan and Katrina Fitzgerald. You guys believed in the vision and listened to the call of God to help start this “brand new thing.” Thank you for your sacrifice and commitment to help make Element a reality!
Ben and Jill Roberts, who moved their family from Gillette to be a part of volunteering and serving on the launch team of Element Church. Love you guys! Curtis and Heather Marshall who became volunteer staff early on in our ministry and helped start our youth and college ministries at Element. Any of our current and former staff who have charged the hill with us here in Cheyenne. You guys are amazing!
There are countless other names of people who of sacrificed greatly to serve God through Element Church. From people who have been with us from the beginning to people who have just started attending Element Church. God is continuing to fulfill His promise to us. He is continuing to do a “brand new thing.” I truly believe the best is yet to come! God is on the move in our church. Remember what I said on Sunday: “God isn’t here because of what is happening. What is happening is because God is here.”
